ABOUT THE PROCESS OF 3D PRINTING
3D printing also called additive printing, in spite of being one of most advanced technologies, is based on simple principle:
a digital model is turned into a solid three-dimensional object by adding material layer by layer.
First, a virtual design can be created in a computer software using 3D modelling applications.
Alternatively, 3D scanners can be used to scan a physical object first, converting the data back to digital, printable files.
Once you have created a three dimensional object, it has to be prepared to make it 3D printable.
It is done with the software which slices the 3D model into printable horizontal layers.
The outcome is an STL file, which is a standard file type, that interfaces between 3D modelling software and 3D printers.
Once the file is ready, it can be imported to a 3D printer and this is when the magic begins.
The layers of a material are laid down to create a solid physical three dimensional object.
